Governor Chukwuma Soludo has shut down viral reports claiming that former Anambra governor Willie Obiano has died.

The false story, which spread across social media on Friday, alleged that Obiano passed away in a London hospital.

Soludo, through his Press Secretary, Christian Aburime, said the rumour was completely false. He stated that he personally spoke with Obiano and confirmed he is alive and in good health.

He described the report as reckless and urged online publishers to verify information before posting. Soludo asked the public to ignore the fake story.
Former Commissioner for Information under Obiano, C-Don Adinuba, also dismissed the rumour. He said Obiano is in Houston, USA, living normally and not hospitalised.
Obiano governed Anambra from 2014 to 2022 before handing over to Soludo.
