The arrival comes as the party grapples with internal crisis and conflicting court orders. Preparations at the Lekan Salami Stadium have been completed, with the venue fully decorated and security measures tightened.

The event is set to be one of the most contentious conventions in the party’s history, following a series of suspensions within the National Working Committee and legal battles over the legitimacy of the exercise. Court rulings earlier placed the convention on hold before fresh orders allowed it to proceed.

Over 3,000 delegates, party leaders, stakeholders, and international observers are expected. The convention will elect a new National Chairman, National Secretary, and other key officers amid intense lobbying and division within the party.
