A former PDP ward chairman in Kwara State, Alhaji Abubakar Sabi Sise, has been abducted by gunmen during a late-night raid on his home in Boriya–Shiya Ward, Baruten Local Government Area.
The attackers stormed the compound around midnight on Thursday, firing several shots to scare residents before gaining access to the house.
The kidnappers reportedly confronted one of Sise’s sons as he returned home late. They ordered him, at gunpoint, to call his father. When Sise opened the door, the gunmen entered and took him away, leaving other members of the household untouched.
By morning, empty shells and live rounds were found in the compound, indicating the extent of gunfire used during the attack. Residents described the incident as brief but terrifying, saying the gunmen left the area within minutes.
Local vigilante operatives have begun searching nearby communities in an attempt to track the kidnappers and rescue the victim. This latest abduction comes just two months after another businessman was taken from his home in the neighbouring Shiya community.
The Kwara State Commissioner of Police, Ojo Adekimi, said he had not yet received an official report but promised to look into the case. As of the time of this report, the whereabouts of Alhaji Sabi Sise remain unknown.
