The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has given property owners in Asokoro, Maitama, Garki, and Wuse who violated land use regulations a final 14-day grace period to comply with payment requirements.

In a statement issued on Sunday by his Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media, Lere Olayinka, the FCT Administration directed all affected allottees to pay a violation fee of ₦5 million and other applicable charges for land use change and conversion. The deadline begins on Tuesday, November 11, 2025.

The statement warned that failure to comply within the 14 days will attract strict enforcement actions from the administration. The grace period follows the expiration of an earlier 30-day window granted after public notices were issued in September 2025.

The affected areas include Gana and Usuma Streets in Maitama, Yakubu Gowon Crescent in Asokoro, Aminu Kano and Adetokunbo Ademola Crescents in Wuse II, as well as Ladoke Akintola Boulevard, Gimbiya Street, and Onitsha Street in Garki II. Others are Ogbomosho Street, Lafia Close, Yola Street, Abriba Close, Danbatta Street, Ringim Close, and Ilorin Street in Garki I.
The FCTA advised all property holders to visit the Department of Land Administration with their original title documents and identification to collect approval letters for land use conversion.
Wike also approved the issuance of new title documents — including Certificates of Occupancy — reflecting the updated land use for a new 99-year term. However, this excludes properties whose titles were earlier revoked for non-development or non-payment of ground rent.
