Moghalu Rejects Anambra Governorship Election Calls It A Sham

Labour Party governorship candidate in the Anambra election, Dr. George Moghalu, has rejected the outcome of the November 8, 2025 poll, describing it as a sham.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had declared Governor Chukwuma Soludo of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) winner of the election after sweeping all 21 local government areas.

Addressing journalists at his Nnewi office on Sunday, Moghalu expressed deep dissatisfaction with the conduct of the exercise, claiming that the process was riddled with irregularities. He alleged that widespread vote buying and underage voting compromised the integrity of the election.

According to him, several reports from his party agents revealed that minors were allowed to vote in different parts of the state. He said such incidents raised serious questions about INEC’s ability to guarantee credible elections.

Moghalu also alleged that in some polling units, the Labour Party’s name appeared on the ballot without its logo, confusing voters and affecting his party’s performance. He maintained that this omission amounted to voter disenfranchisement.

The LP candidate said he had directed his campaign team to compile a detailed report from all polling units before deciding on the next steps. He hinted that legal action might be considered after a full review of the evidence.

Moghalu, who contested for the first time under the Labour Party, said his rejection of the results was based on principle, insisting that the credibility of Nigeria’s electoral process must not be sacrificed for political convenience.
