ADC Drafting Code Of Ethics Ahead Of 2027 Elections

Former Kaduna State Governor and chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Mallam Nasir El-Rufai, has revealed that the party is developing a code of ethics for its leaders, candidates, and potential appointees ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Speaking with journalists on Saturday in Gusau, Zamfara State, El-Rufai said the ADC is preparing to offer Nigerians a credible alternative that will restore honesty and good governance. He said the initiative aims to ensure that those representing the party in public offices remain transparent and accountable.

El-Rufai accused President Bola Tinubu’s administration of failing Nigerians, describing it as one driven by deceit and corruption. He said the ADC was formed to promote integrity and service to the people, unlike what he called the current system of “insincere governance.”

He explained that the new code of ethics will compel every ADC leader and candidate to commit to principles of transparency, discipline, and responsible leadership. The document, he said, will bar those found guilty of corruption or misuse of public funds from holding any position in the party or government.

The former governor added that the ADC’s constitution sets it apart from other political parties, with clear guidelines for ethical conduct and youth inclusion. He stated that 40 percent of the party’s appointments and elective opportunities would be reserved for young Nigerians.

El-Rufai urged ADC members to remain united and wary of infiltration by political rivals, warning that the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) may attempt to sow division among them. He called on supporters to register with the party, obtain their Permanent Voter Cards, and prepare to vote for change in 2027.

The meeting in Gusau, organised by the ADC deputy national organising secretary, also focused on harmonising the party’s structures in Zamfara State and mobilising grassroots support ahead of the upcoming elections.
