Kanu Lists Danjuma, Wike, SanwoOlu And Others As Witnesses In Defense

Detained IPOB leader Nnamdi Kanu has told the Federal High Court in Abuja that he is ready to begin his defence, marking a major turn in his long-running trial.

In a motion personally filed on Tuesday, Kanu said he would call 23 witnesses, including prominent figures such as former Defence Minister Theophilus Danjuma, FCT Minister Nyesom Wike, Lagos Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, and Imo Governor Hope Uzodinma.

Others listed include former Chief of Army Staff Tukur Buratai, Works Minister Dave Umahi, former Abia Governor Okezie Ikpeazu, ex-Attorney General Abubakar Malami, NIA’s Ahmed Rufai Abubakar, and DSS boss Yusuf Bichi.

Kanu stated that he would testify personally to deny the allegations against him and explain the political context of his actions. He also asked for 90 days to conclude his defence due to the large number of witnesses.

His move came shortly after activist Omoyele Sowore led protests in Abuja calling for Kanu’s release.

Meanwhile, a magistrate court in Abuja ordered the remand of Kanu’s lawyer, Aloy Ejimakor, and 12 others arrested during the protest, pending their arraignment on October 24.
