Dr. Doro’s nomination comes after the former Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Prof. Nentawe Goshwe Yilwatda, was elected as the national chairman of the All Progressives Congress in July, leaving the Plateau State ministerial slot vacant.

The president’s request was made under Section 147(2) of the 1999 Constitution, which empowers him to appoint ministers subject to Senate approval. The letter urged the lawmakers to give the nomination prompt consideration to enable the smooth continuation of governance.

After reading the letter, Senate President Akpabio referred the nomination to the Committee of the Whole for further legislative action. Lawmakers are expected to screen Dr. Doro before his final confirmation in the coming days.

Dr. Doro’s nomination is part of President Tinubu’s ongoing effort to strengthen his cabinet and ensure effective representation of all states. Details of the portfolio he will oversee are yet to be announced, but his inclusion is seen as part of the administration’s broader drive to maintain balance and continuity in the federal executive council.
