Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain and Board of Trustees member, Chief Bode George, has criticised former Jigawa State Governor Sule Lamido for threatening to sue the party over the alleged denial of access to the chairmanship nomination form.

Speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Tuesday, George said every member, including Lamido, has the right to contest any position but must follow internal party procedures before considering legal action.

“This party is not owned by anyone. Before going to court, you must exhaust the internal mechanisms of the party. If you don’t, you can be sanctioned,” he said.

George explained that while the PDP often adopts consensus arrangements to make its internal elections smoother, such agreements do not stop anyone from contesting.
“The consensus option only helps reduce tension, but it’s not compulsory. Lamido can buy the form, fill it, and face the delegates on convention day. The final choice rests with the delegates,” he added.
Lamido had earlier expressed frustration after visiting the PDP national secretariat in Abuja, where he said he was unable to get the nomination form. He claimed key officials, including the National Secretary and the National Organising Secretary, said they were unaware of its availability.
Despite the incident, George urged Lamido to remain patient and respect party rules, saying taking the PDP to court over internal matters would be improper.
