Former gubernatorial candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in Cross River State, Prof Sandy Onor, has declared that the party remains strong and united after its state congress in Calabar.

The congress produced Venatius Ikem as chairman for another term, alongside 38 members of the state executive committee. Party leaders described the process as orderly and in line with guidelines from the national secretariat.

Prof Onor noted that the outcome showed the party’s resilience in the state, stressing that the PDP still commands widespread support. He urged members who stayed away from the exercise to return and work together under the party’s umbrella.

He also expressed confidence in the capacity of the new leadership team to strengthen the party and prepare for the next political contests.
In his remarks, Ikem pledged to use his renewed mandate to reconcile aggrieved members and build a more united front. He said the PDP’s goal in Cross River is to present a formidable platform that can win elections and reconnect with the people.
