In a statement released by its Publicity Secretary, Daniel Osa-Ogbegie, the party said the claim surrounding the deal has left many Edo citizens unsettled. It added that the government must also account for abandoned projects left behind by the immediate past administration of Godwin Obaseki.

The state government had earlier announced that Governor Okpebholo signed the agreement on September 25 during the 2025 Edo State Global Investment Summit held in Glasgow, Scotland. According to the governor’s office, the partnership with EuroAfrica CCI is expected to drive strategic investments into Edo over the next three to five years.

The PDP, however, said it would not accept vague assurances. The party maintained that transparency in fiscal management was necessary and promised to hold the current administration to account on how funds and agreements are handled.

The opposition party also pledged loyalty to Edo citizens, stressing that its role is to support policies that benefit the people while resisting any move that appears wasteful or deceptive.

Osa-Ogbegie further noted that the new executive committee of the PDP had been inaugurated to replace the caretaker committee. He added that the party is prepared for intense engagement with the All Progressives Congress government and its spokespersons, signaling the beginning of a more confrontational opposition in the state.
