Speaking in Kano during a meeting with NNPP stakeholders, the former Kano State governor recalled his role in the formation of APC, lamenting that despite the sacrifices made by him and his allies, they were sidelined throughout former President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration.

Kwankwaso said he personally endured harassment from agencies such as the EFCC, ICPC, Police and DSS while building the APC, but was later abandoned. He accused the party leadership of rewarding others who never shared in the struggles that birthed the APC.

He stressed that if invited back, NNPP members would need assurances on the fate of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, as well as the party’s senators, House of Representatives members, and other officials holding positions.

Kwankwaso insisted he is not opposed to rejoining APC but maintained it must be based on defined terms that guarantee respect, inclusion, and transparency.

“We are not in a hurry to leave the NNPP,” he said, “but if there are those who want to work with us honestly and transparently, we are ready for it.”
