Obidient Movement Defends Peter Obi Against Propaganda Claims

The Obidient Movement has reiterated that former Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, does not engage in or endorse personality attacks.

In a statement issued in Abuja on Tuesday, the group’s National Coordinator, Dr. Yunusa Tanko, said Obi remains focused on service to the people rather than patronage politics.

Tanko noted that Obi had only raised concerns about the arrest and detention of lawyer Dele Farotimi, stressing that it was not an attack but a call for accountability. He added that Obi’s resources have consistently been directed toward education, healthcare, youth empowerment, and support for vulnerable groups, not inducements.

On the defamation case involving Farotimi and elder statesman Aare Afe Babalola, Tanko clarified that the matter was resolved through the intervention of the Ooni of Ife, not because Obi pleaded as alleged. He described claims to the contrary as false narratives already corrected by those present at the meeting.

Tanko also addressed past controversies, including the “Yes, Daddy” audio and allegations of a WhatsApp broadcast against Lagos. He said Obi’s decision not to pursue lengthy court cases did not amount to guilt, and that no credible evidence has ever linked Obi or his team to divisive broadcasts.

“The same paid agents keep recycling lies without proof. Their propaganda carries no weight among Nigerians who are tired of deceit and corruption. They only drag Obi’s name to remain relevant,” Tanko said.

He maintained that the Obidient Movement will continue to uphold truth over propaganda and service over selfish politics.
