Benue Govnor Says No Vacancy For Deputy Governor Seat

Benue State Governor Hyacinth Alia has dismissed speculations that he is planning to replace his deputy, Dr. Sam Ode, ahead of the 2027 elections.

Speaking at the swearing-in of new commissioners in Makurdi on Monday, the governor stressed that the office of deputy governor is not vacant and will not be contested.

Alia described Ode as a competent and dependable partner in governance, praising his dedication and people-oriented approach. He noted that his deputy has shown capacity in carrying out his duties and understands the needs of Benue people.

“There is no vacancy for any deputy governor in 2027. My deputy is capable and committed. I enjoy working with him and we have a strong personal relationship,” Alia said.

The governor urged those speculating about a possible change in the deputy governor’s seat to disregard such rumours, insisting that his administration remains united.
