Jigawa PDP Caucus Declares Loyalty To national Leadership Calls For Unity

The Peoples Democratic Party expanded caucus in Jigawa State has thrown its weight behind the national leadership of the party, expressing support for efforts aimed at strengthening its structures ahead of future elections.

The decision was announced in a communique released to journalists by the state Publicity Secretary, Umar Kyari, after a large meeting held in Dutse on Saturday. The gathering drew hundreds of party executives, including former governor Sule Lamido, state working committee members, and representatives from all 287 wards across the 27 local government areas.

According to the communique, the caucus acknowledged the steps taken by the National Working Committee, Board of Trustees, and National Executive Committee in repositioning the PDP. It also welcomed ongoing arrangements for the forthcoming national convention, describing it as a move in line with party rules and constitution.

The caucus further reaffirmed its loyalty to the leadership of Sule Lamido and the State Working Committee chaired by Babandi Gumel, noting that such unity reflects firm grassroots cohesion across the state. Members also praised National Assembly representatives from Jigawa for pushing development projects and empowerment programmes seen as beneficial to communities.

On electoral matters, the meeting urged the Independent National Electoral Commission to discipline three of its officials accused of misconduct during the recent Babura/Garki federal constituency by-election, insisting that accountability is necessary to protect the credibility of future polls.

The caucus also commended the resilience of its members during the by-election, noting that their participation helped keep the party strong in the contest. It encouraged members to remain calm and continue backing decisions from the national leadership as Nigeria’s political environment evolves.

The communique ended with a call for sustained solidarity, deeper engagement at the grassroots, and collective commitment to consolidating the party’s gains in Jigawa and preparing for upcoming electoral challenges.
