AAU VC Blames Intruders And Yahoo Boys For Campus Killings

The Acting Vice-Chancellor of Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma, Prof. Olowo Samuel, has linked a recent killing on the campus to suspected internet fraudsters and intruders who forced their way into the institution.

Addressing reporters in Ekpoma, Prof. Samuel explained that the victim of the attack was not a student of the university, countering widespread claims on social media. According to police reports, the man was brought in a vehicle, beaten in front of a hostel, and later taken into the bush where he was killed.

He revealed that several suspects have already been arrested in connection with the incident and handed over to the State Criminal Investigation Department in Benin City for further investigation.

The Vice-Chancellor lamented that some individuals had turned the university environment into a base for internet fraud activities, adding that such criminal intrusions had recently become a challenge for the institution.

In response, management has stepped up security measures across the campus. Students have also been restricted from driving vehicles into the school premises as part of efforts to safeguard lives and property.

Prof. Samuel maintained that the situation was unacceptable and vowed that the institution would not allow intruders to compromise the safety of staff and students.
