Kwara APC Forms Central Elders Caucus Ahead Of 2027

The All Progressives Congress in Kwara State has inaugurated the Kwara Central APC Elders Caucus as part of moves to strengthen the party ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The event, held on Sunday, brought together party leaders and stakeholders who charged members of the caucus to foster unity and discipline among party members.

The coordinator of the caucus, Alhaji Razaq Lawal, urged members to reinforce cohesion within the party and respect the leadership of Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq. He reminded party faithful to await the governor’s decision on who will fly the party’s flag in the 2027 governorship race and cautioned against promoting aspirants before directives are given.

Lawal also warned members to be wary of individuals posing as leaders without recognition, stressing that the newly inaugurated caucus represents the officially acknowledged leadership structure for the Kwara Central senatorial district.

The chairman of the interim executive of the caucus, Alhaji Mustapha Kobe, pledged loyalty to Governor Abdulrazaq while calling for collaboration between the caucus and party members across wards and local governments. He encouraged members to share updates from their areas to keep the caucus informed and effective in its role.

State APC secretary, Alhaji Mustapha Salman Isowo, who presided over the inauguration, confirmed that the initiative was backed by the state leadership under Prince Sunday Fagbemi. He added that plans were underway to establish a similar caucus in Kwara South.

The governor’s special adviser on politics for Kwara Central, Alhaji Sulaiman Abubakar, said Governor Abdulrazaq was aware of the caucus formation and would provide necessary support to ensure its success.

The ceremony also featured the swearing-in of the interim executive committee by the state APC legal adviser, Barrister Lawal Jimoh. The team includes Alhaji Mustapha Kobe as chairman, Alhaji Razaq Lawal as coordinator, Alhaji Gani Alawo as secretary, Mallam Sulaiman Cementi as public relations officer, and Alhaji Abdulrauf Sanni as welfare officer.

The inauguration was attended by several APC chieftains, including women leaders, state officials, and elders, reflecting the broad base of support behind the caucus formation.
