Delta Governor Aide Offers Job And Luxury Trip To Freed Ibom Air Passenger

Comfort Emmanson, the Ibom Air passenger recently released from Kirikiri Prison, has been offered a job and a luxury trip by Ossai Ovie Success, Senior Special Assistant on Media to Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori.

Ossai announced on Wednesday that he had arranged a position for Emmanson in Delta State with a monthly salary of ₦500,000. He also promised to cover the cost of an all-expenses-paid visit to the state, including flight tickets, accommodation in a five-star hotel, guided tours, and attendance at the Delta Social Media Summit scheduled for August 28 in Asaba.

He said the gesture was intended to help her relax and recover after her detention, encouraging anyone who could reach her to ask her to contact him directly to claim the offer.

Emmanson had earlier expressed gratitude for the support she received but said she was still in pain from her prison experience. She explained that she needed rest and medical care before sharing her account of the incident.

She was arrested on August 10 after a dispute on an Ibom Air flight, accused of refusing to switch off her phone before take-off and later assaulting the flight purser. She was arraigned the following day on a five-count charge and remanded at Kirikiri pending bail.

The case drew national attention after viral videos showed her confronting a flight attendant and later being restrained by airport security. On Wednesday, Magistrate Olanrewaju Salami struck out the charges following a request by police prosecutors to withdraw the case.

Aviation Minister Festus Keyamo condemned the circulation of the videos and promised action against those behind the leak. Activist Aisha Yesufu described the case as an example of selective justice, while Lagos lawyer Oyinkansola Badejo-Okusanya called for transparency.

The aviation minister later confirmed that all criminal complaints had been dropped and Ibom Air’s lifetime ban on Emmanson had been lifted.
