Osun APC Aspirants Can’t Win In 2026 Says Adeleke’s Aide

A spokesperson for Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has described all All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship aspirants in the state as “unelectable,” saying none of them poses a threat to the governor’s 2026 re-election bid.

In a statement issued on Thursday in Osogbo, Olawale Rasheed, the governor’s media aide, criticised the early campaign tactics of APC figures such as Senator Iyiola Omisore, Senator Ajibola Bashiru, and Dotun Babayemi, accusing them of launching attacks instead of addressing their own political records.

He claimed Governor Adeleke enjoys over 75% popularity and approval rating, adding that none of the APC hopefuls can match his achievements in less than three years in office.

Taking aim at Senator Omisore, Rasheed said the governor had rehabilitated the road passing through his family home in Ile Ife — a project left unattended during Omisore’s time in office. He also accused the senator of abandoning the Ife stadium and waterworks.

“If anyone should be proud of Governor Adeleke’s work, it should be Omisore. He even visited the flyover site in Ife and posed for pictures,” he said.

Rasheed also criticised Prince Dotun Babayemi for opposing infrastructure projects in Osogbo, warning that such comments had likely alienated voters in the capital.

“In 2022, a collapsed bridge split Gbongan in two. Governor Adeleke not only fixed it but also undertook other road projects in the town. The traditional council acknowledged and commended him,” he added.

He dismissed Bola Oyebamiji, another APC aspirant from Ikire, as a “political neophyte” riding on the popularity of a former governor who lost an election. He also accused Oyebamiji of poor performance in his current role at the National Inland Waterways Authority.

Rasheed concluded that none of the current APC contenders had the goodwill, performance record, or political structure to defeat Adeleke in 2026.
