His decision was made public through a resignation letter dated July 21, though he did not give any reason for the move.

Kashim thanked the party’s leadership in his ward for the platform and the trust they placed in him, especially during the 2023 elections when he was nominated as the PDP candidate for governor. Despite stepping down shortly before the election to support Governor Bala Mohammed’s second-term bid, he remained active in the campaign, backing the governor across the state.

His resignation comes months after he left his position as SSG in January 2025. At the time, he stated that the governor had directed him to resign, but no further details were provided.

Kashim played a key role in the PDP’s efforts during the last election, helping secure victories in most parts of the state. He said his contributions were focused on helping the party overcome historical challenges, particularly the difficulty of winning re-election at the local government level.

With his resignation from the PDP now official, there is growing speculation that Kashim is preparing to run in the 2026 governorship race under a new political party. While he has not confirmed his next move, sources suggest he may soon declare his new platform.

For now, political observers are watching closely to see where he aligns next, as his influence and support base could shape the 2026 race in Bauchi.
