Human rights activist Omoyele Sowore on Monday led a protest to the Force Headquarters in Abuja to demand better salaries and pensions for Nigerian police officers.

The protesters, holding placards with messages like “Decent Salaries Now,” “End Police Slavery,” and “Pensions for Police Officers,” called for improved welfare for both serving and retired police personnel.

Although they were denied entry into the Force Headquarters, the protesters were given police escorts as they marched on to the National Assembly to continue pressing their demands.
The demonstration highlighted growing public concern over the treatment of security personnel, with many saying better welfare is key to addressing corruption and poor morale within the police force.
