The All Progressives Congress has shut down its National Secretariat in Abuja for three days to honour former President Muhammadu Buhari, who died on Sunday in London after a long illness.

The party made the announcement on Monday through its National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka. According to the statement, the Secretariat will remain closed until Thursday, July 17.

Buhari, who once ruled Nigeria as a military head of state and later returned as a civilian president, passed away at the age of 82. His death was confirmed by both President Bola Tinubu and former presidential spokesman Garba Shehu.

In response, President Tinubu directed Vice President Kashim Shettima and Chief of Staff Femi Gbajabiamila to travel to London to accompany Buhari’s remains back to Nigeria. Tinubu also ordered that all national flags be flown at half-mast for seven days as a mark of respect.
