Obasa Urges Lagos Residents To Back APC In Local Government Polls

Lagos State House of Assembly Speaker, Mudashiru Obasa, has called on residents to come out in large numbers and vote for the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the local government elections scheduled for Saturday, July 12, 2025.

Speaking to journalists on Wednesday, Obasa said the APC has shown a strong commitment to grassroots development and has delivered results over the years. He stressed that Lagos continues to lead among Nigerian states because of consistent, people-focused leadership.

He explained that the candidates chosen by the party were carefully selected during the primaries based on trust and competence. He urged voters to give them the mandate to serve, expressing confidence that they would meet expectations once in office.

At a strategy meeting on Tuesday with APC candidates from Lagos West Senatorial District, Obasa told them to strengthen their door-to-door campaigns and reach every corner of their communities before election day. He reminded them not to rely solely on the party’s popularity but to earn votes through personal outreach and meaningful engagement.

During the meeting held at the Assembly complex, Obasa offered financial support to boost the candidates’ campaign efforts. He assured them that the Assembly would continue to support them both before and after the elections.

He urged the candidates to engage all members of the community, regardless of background, and to take charge of their campaign operations. He also advised them to remain grounded and service-driven if elected.

Obasa told the hopefuls that their loyalty should lie with the people, and their approach to governance should reflect discipline, transparency, and a deep respect for democracy.

He also noted that Lagos is one of the few states where local government chairmen are guaranteed a full four-year term. According to him, this allows leaders at the grassroots level to plan better and deliver lasting projects that improve people’s lives.

With just days to go before the elections, Obasa’s message was clear: Lagos residents should back the APC at the polls and trust the party to continue driving development across the state’s local governments.
