Controversy is raging over the death of an operative of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in Abuja.
The EFCC operative, whose identity was disclosed to WazobiaReporters as John Shola Yahma, was said to have committed suicide in his residence on Monday.
Though the EFCC spokesperson, Mr. Dele Oyewale, who said that an investigation was currently underway to determine the circumstances surrounding the suicide, some associates of the deceased operatives are ruling out suicide as the cause of his death.
One of his associates, who spoke to our reporter under the condition of anonymity simply said; “John was murdered in his house.”
The associate did not however, give further details.
Another associate disclosed that John Yahma told him a few weeks ago that he urgently needed to tell him some things happening in his office, but they never had time to see before his death.
The deceased John Shola Yahma, was a member of Course 5.
Sources said he went to China for a training early this year and was bid to travel to India for another training before his death.
“John problems started with the issue of the Head of Operations of the commission.
“He was supposed to replace the Head of Operations that was moved to Kaduna when the present EFCC Chairman, Ola Olukoyede, assumed office. He was to be made Head of Operations upon his return from the training in India,” a close associate told WazobiaReporters.
