A staff member of the Kano Electricity Distribution Company (KEDCO), Sadiq Zubairu, has confessed to killing his friend and colleague, Bello Bukar Adamu, over a debt of N3 million.

Zubairu narrated how he conspired with two others to lure Adamu to his house, where he tied him up and hit him with sticks and sharp iron until he became motionless.

“I hit him in my house,” Zubairu confessed during preliminary investigations.

Adamu’s brother, Abdullahi Abubakar, had reported him missing after he received an urgent call from Zubairu. Two days later, his corpse was found at a backstreet location in Kumbotso Local Government Area of Kano.
Zubairu confessed that he had deceitfully collected N3 million from Adamu on the pretext of securing a job offer for him. However, he realized he had no means of returning the money and hired two men to help him kill Adamu.
A family member also said that Zubairu lied to Bello that he would help him secure employment with Federal Inland Revenue Service.

The Police Public Relations Officer in Kano, Abdullahi Kiyawa, confirmed that Zubairu had been arrested and investigation was ongoing.
Adamu’s family members are in severe pain, as they trusted Zubairu, who had been reinstated by Adamu after being sacked from KEDCO.
KEDCO spokesperson, Sani Bala, described Adamu’s death as tragic and shocking, saying he was a hardworking and dedicated official. However, he clarified that Zubairu was not a staff member at the time of the incident.
The case is still under investigation, but Zubairu’s confession has revealed a shocking tale of betrayal and deceit.
