Court Reinstates Justice Folahanmi Oloyede Of Osun Sacked By Aregbesola In 2015

A Federal High Court sitting in Abuja has reinstated Justice Olamide Folahanmi Oloyede of Osun state High Court who was unjustly retired by the National Judicial Council, NJC.

Recall that Justice Oloyede was petitioned by the Osun Civil Societies Coalition accusing her of failure to conduct herself in such a manner as to preserve the dignity of her office and impartiality and independence of the Judiciary when she wrote a petition against the former Osun State governor, Mr Rauf Aregbesola and his deputy to members of the State House of Assembly.

The National Judicial Council (NJC) had announced the sack of Justice Oloyede on July 15, 2015.

NJC Acting Director of Information, Mr. Soji Oye, had said “On the allegations levelled against Hon. Justice Olamide Folahanmi Oloyede of High Court of Justice, Osun State, by Osun Civil Societies Coalition, Council also recommended her for compulsory retirement from Office to Osun State governor sequel to the ‘Findings’ of its Facts Finding Committee.”
It should be recalled that Justice Oloyede, had in her petition written on June 19, 2015 to the then Speaker of the Osun State House of Assembly, Mr. Najeem Salam, accused the Aregbesola of financial recklessness.
She also sent a copy of the petition to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), among others.
Her petition read in part, “Mr. Governor is deemed to have received on behalf of the state and local governments, revenues well in excess of N538bn within the period under reference, therefore, the figures being currently touted by Mr. Governor are cooked, manipulated, fallacious and fraudulent. They are undeniable evidence of corruption!
“But in spite of all those huge earnings, and for no justifiable reasons, at least not justifiable before rationally thinking minds, coupled with the accumulation of foreign and local debts, Mr. Governor could still not provide the much touted infrastructures and to make matters worse, he couldn’t even discharge the simplest and least complicated of functions in governance, which is to maintain the civil service, pay pensions, run public schools and hospitals, and the maintenance of existing ‘Trunk B’ Roads.”
