Their destination was Kalsubai , they however lost their way and sought directions from the Google Maps.

The navigation showed them a way that includes a bridge that had been submerged by floodwaters for about 4 months after the authorities released water from the Pimpalgaon dam.

The information was not updated on Google Maps and there was no warning on the map.

‘There is a bridge there, which was put into use for eight months. But for four months after the rainy season, the water of the dam was released and the bridge was submerged by floodwaters and can no longer be used.

The driver accidentally drove into the dam. Since it was dark, they didn’t notice it and accidentally drove into the water’ Deputy Superintendent of police Rahul Madhne said,

According to the Police they managed to come out after opening a window but Ghule, the driver, who did not know how to swim was trapped while Shekhar and Rajurkar swam and came to the bank of the river.

The locals could not also rescue them, because it was in the night.

Ghule’s body was discovered early on Sunday and he was rushed to a nearby public health care facility, where he was declared dead on arrival. Police said they have registered the matter as an accidental death.
