WazobiaReporters learnt that a sum of N2 million cash was paid to the abductors a few hours before he was set free.

Ajayi was abducted on Christmas day by unknown bandits around 6pm at a bad spot on the Isan-Iludun-Ekiti road in Oye Local Government while travelling from Ado-Ekiti, the state capital, alongside his cousin, Fatile Oluwaseun.

Isan Ekiti is the hometown of the State Governor, Dr Kayode Fayemi.

According to a family source, who spoke on condition of anonymity, the abductors had demanded N100 million on Saturday but later reduced it to N10 million yesterday afternoon.

The family source told WazobiaReporters this morning that after intense pleading, the ransom was reduced to N2 million yesterday’s night

The source did not however give further details as to where he was released.

“I can’t say exactly where the kidnappers released him and where the money was dropped, but I can say it categorically that N2 million cash was paid to secure his release.

“Our only joy now is that our brother is back home alive,” the source said.
