NYSC: No corps member was killed during abduction of US returnee in Ekiti  …Kidnappers demand N20m ransom 

Ijadare’s security aide was said to have been killed on the spot.

The kidnap victim was said to have returned to Nigeria from the United States of America to start a Palmoil Producing Factory in Ijan, his hometown, with his factory  employing over 50 people.

This is even as the kidnappers were said to have demanded N20 million ransom to free Ijadare, a United States of America returnee.

Debunking report of the involvement of a serving corps member in the attack,  Ekiti State NYSC Coordinator,  Mrs. Mary Nnenna Chikezie, said “no corps member is presently serving at the said factory; hence, no corps member was gunned down.”

“The attention of the National Youths Service Corps (NYSC) Management, Ekiti State has been drawn to an online news written by Debola Joseph and published by “WazobiaReportersng.com” on Tuesday, 15th September 2020, which reported that a serving Corp member was gunned down at a Palm oil producing factory in Ijan-Ekiti, Gbonyin Local Area, Ekiti State by assailants who came to kidnap one Mr. Jide Ijadare.

“In the purported story, the writer made an allegation that the corps member was serving at the company. Consequent upon the above, I wish to inform the general public that no corps member is presently serving at the said factory; hence, no corps member was gunned down.

“It is therefore imperative to further place on record, that the National Youths Service Corps scheme places in its priority, the security and welfare of corps members.

“We pray that God grant the family of the deceased, the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.”
