2023: Buhari’s Nephew Mamman Daura Kicks Against Zoning, Says; “I will support better candidate from any zone”
Powerful nephew of President Muhammadu Buhari, Malam Mamman Daura has kicked against zoning of the presidency in 2023, declaring that he will support better candidate from any part of the country.

Daura, who is seen as the most influential figure in the administration of President Buhari spoke in an exclusive interview, which the Hausa Service of the BBC released some excerpts on its morning programme on Tuesday.

He said, “after trying rotational presidency for three consecutive times, Nigeria needs to consider qualified candidates regardless of the region the candidate comes from in 2023 presidency.”
He insisted that qualification should be prioritised against the tribe of candidates.
On his current relationship with President Buhari, Daura said he usually visit and offer advice to the President.
“I don’t just go and tell him what to do; you don’t do that with the government,” he said.
