How Ekiti Dep Gov’s daughter, Bolaji Egbeyemi got civil servant arrested, tortured over alleged stealing of her jewelry worth N6m

A civil servant in Ekiti State, Tope Alake was arrested, tortured and detained by the police for 15 days over alleged missing jewelry belonging to Bolaji Egbeyemi, daughter of Ekiti State Deputy Governor, Chief Bisi Egbeyemi.

Bolaji, who is also an aide to Governor Kayode Fayemi, claimed that the necklace worth N6 million, was stolen by Tope Alake, a civil servant deployed to work as domestic servant in her house.

While her father is the deputy governor of Ekiti State, Bolaji is a Senior Special Assistant to the wife of Ekiti state Governor, Bisi Fayemi on Empowerments. She is specifically in-charge of Young Women in Politics and related issues.

Trouble began when Bolaji allegedly announced a missing jewellery she claimed worth around N6 million and accused Tope Alake of being responsible for the theft.

The suspect, Tope Alake was arrested by the deputy governor’s security men and was held in police custody at Ado Central Area Command in Okesa, Ado-Ekiti for 15 days.

Despite denying involvement in the theft, Tope Alake was handcuffed and tortured severally, until last week Wednesday, when he was charged to court for stealing. He was subsequently granted bail and the matter adjourned till April 6, 2020.

Sources also disclosed that on the order of Bolaji Egbeyemi, armed policemen invaded Tope Alake’s house and took his electronic gadgets and furniture to the police station, claiming that the properties were proceeds of theft.
