Akan Okon appreciates Governor Emmanuel’s determination to completing Ibom Deep Seaport

The Commissioner for Economic Development and Ibom Deep Seaport, Mr Akan Okon appreciated Governor Udom Emmanuel for his firm determination to complete the Ibom Deep seaport.
He made this known on Sunday, 29th December, 2019 in a Media Hangout at his Ewet Housing residence.
He also lauded efforts by the Technical Committee for the actualisation of the Deep Seaport, but however added, “government cannot do it alone, more hands are still needed to make this project a success.”
Mr. Akan Okon said the project when completed will not only improve the economy of the state, but also create more employment opportunities for Akwa Ibomites, but however advised people in the state to acquire the requisite skills that will enable them take advantage of the project when completed.
The Commissioner took time to explain to tge public the current state of the Ibom Deep Seaport, revealing that 20 out of 22 checklists needed for the takeoff of the project have been achieved and expressed optimism that with the cooperation from the Federal Government, the project will be a reality.
He said there would be no conflict in revenue management, saying the Nigerian Port Authority saddled with the responsibility revenue collection, to avoid such issues.
“In terms of revenue, it is the Nigerian Port Authority that is saddled with the responsibility of collecting revenue. The Deep Seaport will be world, not a state project, when completed, so the issue of conflict in revenue mobilization would not occur”, he said.
