Tinubu Orders Rescue of Niger Mosque Abduction Victims

President Bola Tinubu has directed Nigeria’s security and intelligence agencies to intensify efforts to rescue victims abducted during an attack on a mosque in Niger State.

The President gave the order on Tuesday following the reported abduction and killing of worshippers by criminal elements in the state.

Tinubu instructed the Armed Forces, Nigeria Police Force, Department of State Services and other relevant security agencies to work together and ensure the immediate recovery of those still in captivity.

The directive was disclosed in a statement issued by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.

Tinubu expressed anger over the attack and condemned the killing and abduction of people who were worshipping at the mosque.

He described the attackers as enemies of peace and humanity and said the government would not allow those responsible for the incident to escape justice.

The President also expressed sympathy to families who lost loved ones during the attack, while praying for the safe return of those who were taken away.

He assured the affected families that the Federal Government was working to bring their relatives back safely and would continue its efforts until all the victims were accounted for.

As part of the response, Tinubu directed the Service Chiefs to provide him with regular updates on the progress of the rescue operation.

The directive means that the security agencies are expected to maintain coordinated operations aimed at locating the abducted victims and apprehending those responsible for the attack.

The incident has added to concerns over insecurity in parts of Niger State, where communities have faced attacks and abductions by criminal groups.

Tinubu said the latest attack would not force the country to surrender to terrorists and other violent groups. He said protecting citizens and communities remained a major responsibility of the government.

The President also called for continued efforts to protect human life and restore security in affected communities.

He assured Nigerians that the government would continue to confront criminal elements threatening the safety of citizens and would work towards ensuring that those behind the attack are brought to justice.
