The All Progressives Congress, APC, has denied reports that it has withdrawn the list of members appointed to its 2027 Presidential Campaign Council.
The party described the reports as rumours, saying the campaign council list remains in place unless the leadership officially announces any changes.
APC National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, gave the clarification on Tuesday while reacting to reports that the party had reversed the recently released list.
Morka said there had been no official decision to withdraw the names already announced by the party. He added that any adjustment to the campaign council would be made public through the appropriate channels.
The clarification followed growing reports that the APC leadership had decided to withdraw and review the campaign council after some party members raised concerns about its composition.
The campaign council was recently announced as part of the party’s preparations for the 2027 presidential election, in which President Bola Tinubu is seeking a second term.
The list generated reactions from several members and stakeholders of the ruling party, particularly over the inclusion of some political figures and the absence of others considered influential in the party’s structure.
The composition also attracted attention over the roles assigned to members of the National Assembly, state governors and other senior political leaders.
Some party stakeholders reportedly called for broader representation to accommodate more party leaders and experienced campaigners as the APC prepares for a nationwide mobilisation ahead of the election.
The concerns had fuelled speculation that the party could withdraw the list and produce a new arrangement.
However, Morka’s latest statement indicates that no such withdrawal has been officially announced by the APC.
The party spokesman said Nigerians should rely on official communication from the APC concerning any changes to the campaign council rather than reports circulating outside the party.
The clarification also leaves open the possibility of future changes if the party leadership decides to adjust the structure.
The APC is expected to intensify preparations for Tinubu’s re-election campaign as the 2027 general elections draw closer. The campaign council will play a major role in coordinating the party’s activities, mobilising supporters and promoting the administration’s record across the country.
For now, the party maintains that the recently released campaign council list has not been withdrawn. Any new development concerning its membership or structure is expected to be formally announced by the APC.
