Magu May Leave For Kuru As Police Service Commission Sends His Name Among Next NIPSS Attendees

Indication is now rife that Ibrahim Magu, may be on his way out of the headship of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) as he might be heading to the National Institute Of Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS) Kuru, Jos, despite his reluctance to attend a compulsory Senior Executive Course.

In April 2018, Magu was promoted from the position of the Deputy Commissioner to full Commissioner of Police.

With this promotion, he will have to leave the EFCC to attend the Senior Executive Course at NIPSS.

Sources confirmed that Magu has already received a letter directing him to prepare to leave for NIPPS.

But, the Borno born Police officer is said to be reluctant to go for the course and is employing many tricks in order to stay-put at the anti-graft agency.

Nomination of Magu as the substantive chairman of the EFCC, was first rejected in 2016 by the Senate.

Despite this rejection, he has remained as the Chairman of EFCC in Acting capacity despite that there is no provision for such in the Commission’s Establishment Act.

According to the Establishment Act,
“The members of the Commission, other than the Chairman and the Director General, shall be part-time members.

“The Chairman and members of the Commission other than ex-officio members shall be appointed by the President subject to the confirmation of the Senate.”
