A professor in the Department of Mathematical Science, Ondo State University of Science and Technology, Okitipupa, Ondo State, Gideon Okedayo, who was kidnapped by unknown gunmen last week has reportedly died in captivity.

Temidayo Temola, chairman of Senior Staff Association of Nigerian University (SSANU) of the institution, confirmed the death of Okedayo to journalists on Tuesday.
