Again, bandits injure Katsina village head, abduct wife, children

The head of Yandaka village in Batsari Local Government Area of Katsina State, Shehu Iliyasu, was critically injured; while his wife and three children were abducted when bandits attacked his residence Saturday night.

The state police command confirmed the incident to our correspondent yesterday.

Daily Trust reports that the village head was said to have been shot in the head and hand.

He was rushed to a hospital in Katsina and later referred to the Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital for brain surgery, a source said.

“He is in currently in a critical condition because of the bullet wounds,” the source added.

Confirming the incident, the spokesman of the state police command, Isah Gambo, said: “It is true that he (the village head) was attacked and some of his children were kidnapped as well.”
