Ekiti Retired Teachers condemn sack of 400 workers in Edo State, warn Ekiti workers against voting APC
The Positive Minds Club (PMC) for Ekiti Teachers, a gathering of retired teachers in Ekiti State has described the scrapping of the Edo State College of Agriculture and sacking of its over 400 workers by the State Governor, Godwin Obaseki as another warning signal to workers in Ekiti State.
The retired teachers, who spoke on Tuesday, through their President, Mr. P. O. Ojo, said sacking of workers was fast becoming the national policy of the All Progressives Congress (APC), warning that workers in Ekiti State must save their jobs by voting against the party on July 14.
In August last year, Governor Godwin Obaseki announced closure of the institution with a promise to revamping the institution.
Nine months after, over 400 staff of the College of Agriculture, Iguoriakhi in Ovia South West Local Government Area of Edo State were sacked by the governor.
The PMC said sacking over 400 workers by the APC government in Edo State was a pointer to what to expect in Ekiti should the party be allowed to regain power in the State.
The retired teachers said it was even more worrisome that the APC candidate, Dr. Kayode Fayemi played prominent role in the competency test done by teachers in Kaduna State, leading to the sack of over 22,000 teachers.
They said Fayemi’s insistence on teachers competency test when he was governor and his demotion of hundreds of school principals and vice principals was what no teacher will pray to experience in the State again, urging a total rejection of the APC and its candidate.
