The Kano State House of Assembly has extended the suspension of the chairmen of Rogo, Bagwai and Bebeji Local Government Areas by another three months.
The lawmakers also extended the mandate of the ad hoc committee investigating allegations against the three council chairmen for the same period.
The extension was announced in a statement issued on Monday by the Chief Press Secretary to the Speaker, Kamaluddeen Shawai.
The committee was initially given three months to investigate the allegations and submit its findings to the Assembly. However, following the expiration of the period, the House approved another three months to allow the panel to examine the petitions further, complete its investigation and submit its report.
The three chairmen were suspended over allegations of financial misappropriation, abuse of office and other misconduct.
They are Bello Abdullahi Gadanya of Bagwai, Dr Alhassan Salisu of Bebeji and Abubakar Mustapha of Rogo.
