Security agencies have rescued 20 prospective National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members and one civilian who were abducted in Imo State.
The victims were rescued during an intelligence-led operation involving the military, Department of State Services (DSS), police and other security agencies.
The 20 prospective corps members and the civilian were reportedly abducted while travelling through the state, prompting security agencies to begin efforts to locate their whereabouts and secure their release.
Security sources said the rescued victims had been taken to a DSS facility where they were receiving medical attention.
The circumstances surrounding the abduction were still being investigated as of Wednesday, while security agencies continued efforts to identify and apprehend any suspects who may have been involved.
Authorities are also expected to establish the circumstances leading to the abduction and determine whether other individuals were involved in the incident.
