The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, has commenced a two-week vacation outside Nigeria after completing what the party described as a demanding first year in office.

The APC disclosed this in a statement issued on Wednesday by Abimbola Tooki, Special Adviser to the national chairman on Media and Information Strategy.

According to the party, the vacation is meant to give Yilwatda time to rest, recharge and review the responsibilities facing him and the APC ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Since taking over as national chairman, Yilwatda has been involved in extensive consultations, travels and strategic meetings with governors, National Assembly members, state party leaders, elected officials and other stakeholders.
The party listed the successful organisation of its National Convention, the strengthening of its internal structures and the conduct of primary elections at different levels among the accomplishments recorded during his tenure.
The APC said the chairman’s vacation should not be seen as a withdrawal from his responsibilities, but as a brief break from the demands of his daily duties.

The party said Yilwatda would also use the period to reflect on the next phase of the APC’s development and improve his strategic plans ahead of the 2027 elections.
The 2027 polls are expected to be an important period for the ruling party and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope agenda.
Yilwatda is also expected to prepare for an upcoming retreat of the National Working Committee, where members will review the party’s progress, consider emerging challenges and develop strategies for the months ahead.
According to the APC, the retreat will also improve coordination among members of the NWC and strengthen preparations for the 2027 electoral season.
The party assured that Yilwatda’s absence from the country would not disrupt its activities, as the National Working Committee would continue to manage its affairs in accordance with the APC constitution and established procedures.
Yilwatda is expected to return to Nigeria after the two-week break and resume his official duties.
