A retired Nigerian Army officer lost his life, while a woman was kidnapped after suspected gunmen attacked a residential community along the Nasarawa State border with the Federal Capital Territory.

The incident was reported by security analyst Zagazola Makama, who focuses on counter-insurgency and security issues in the Lake Chad region.

According to the report, the attack happened around 12:45 a.m. on Friday at Plot 038 in the PGC Community, situated near Jikwoyi along the Nasarawa–FCT boundary.
The attackers reportedly stormed the home of 46-year-old Silas Orite and abducted his 40-year-old wife, Bukola Oluwatoyin Silas. She was taken away to an unknown location before help could arrive.
The report stated that the community’s Chief Security Officer, Master Warrant Officer Reuben Yelwa, a 61-year-old retired Nigerian Army officer, responded after learning about the attack. While trying to assist the victims, he was reportedly shot by the gunmen and died from his injuries.
Police officers later arrived at the scene, carried out preliminary investigations and documented evidence as part of efforts to uncover those behind the attack.
Security agencies have since stepped up operations to rescue the abducted woman safely and arrest the suspects. They have also increased patrols and security presence in the area to prevent further attacks.
