Police Rescue Kidnapped Church Worshippers In Ekiti

The Ekiti State Police Command has confirmed the rescue of worshippers who were kidnapped during an attack on Christ Apostolic Church (CAC), Eda-Oniyo, on April 28.

The command announced the development on Saturday through its spokesperson, SP Sunday Abutu, who said the operation was made possible through intelligence gathering and joint efforts by several security agencies and local partners.

According to the police, the rescue mission involved officers of the Nigeria Police Force, the military, other security agencies, the Amotekun Corps, local hunters and the Ekiti State Government. Their combined efforts led to the safe recovery of all the victims after weeks of coordinated operations.

The rescued worshippers have been taken to a medical facility where doctors are carrying out examinations and providing treatment to ensure they are in stable condition after their ordeal.

Ekiti State Commissioner of Police, CP Falade Adegoroye, praised the cooperation among the different security organisations that took part in the rescue mission. He said the teamwork and commitment shown during the operation made the successful rescue possible.

He also acknowledged the support of the Ekiti State Government under Governor Biodun Oyebanji, noting that the assistance provided to security agencies played an important role in achieving the positive outcome.

The police chief also thanked residents of the state for remaining vigilant and for providing useful information that supported ongoing security operations.

Adegoroye stated that security operatives have stepped up efforts to track down and arrest those responsible for the abduction. He assured residents that the command remains committed to protecting lives and property across the state.
