Malami meets Amaechi in Abuja amid ADC Political Consultation

Former Attorney-General of the Federation and former Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, met with the African Democratic Congress (ADC) vice-presidential candidate, Rotimi Amaechi, in Abuja on Friday as political talks within the opposition party continued ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The meeting took place behind closed doors at Malami’s residence in the Federal Capital Territory. Neither Malami nor Amaechi disclosed what was discussed, and no official statement was released after the visit.
The latest meeting came a day after Amaechi held separate talks with former Sokoto State Governor, Aminu Tambuwal, in Abuja. The visits are part of ongoing consultations among key political figures as the ADC prepares for the next presidential election.
After meeting Amaechi on Thursday, Tambuwal welcomed the former Rivers State governor’s emergence as the ADC vice-presidential candidate.
He also described the discussions as part of efforts by opposition leaders to work together in building a united political platform that they believe can present another option for Nigerians in 2027.

Tambuwal also reacted to the recent judgment of the Federal High Court, which confirmed the Senator David Mark-led leadership of the ADC.
He viewed the court’s decision as one that settles the leadership issue within the party and allows members to concentrate on strengthening the party ahead of the election.
According to him, the ruling gives the ADC the opportunity to improve unity within its ranks and continue preparations for the campaign while working toward presenting its programmes and plans to voters across the country.
Amaechi was recently unveiled as the running mate to the ADC presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, for the 2027 presidential election. Their joint ticket marks one of the party’s major steps as it seeks to expand its support base before the polls.
The ADC has also completed another stage of the nomination process by uploading the names of Atiku Abubakar and Rotimi Amaechi to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) nomination portal ahead of the 2027 general election.
