APC Thugs Under Guise Attacks Protesters In Lagos

A Democracy Day protest in Ikeja, Lagos, was disrupted after demonstrators accused a group known as “Team Nigeria” of attempting to break up the gathering.

Protesters claimed the group arrived at the venue and pressured them to leave.

The demonstration had drawn activists, journalists and civil society groups protesting insecurity, kidnappings and governance concerns. Tension rose as both sides occupied the area.

According to participants, members of the group allegedly acted aggressively towards protesters and media workers covering the event.

Demonstrators claimed loud speakers mounted on a van were used to drown out their messages and speeches. One protester also alleged that he was assaulted during the confrontation before police officers stepped in.

The protest featured prominent activists, including Falz, Femi Falana and other members of civil society organisations.

Participants carried placards calling for stronger action against insecurity and kidnappings. They urged authorities to address growing public concerns over safety and governance.

Protesters also alleged that police at the scene struggled to contain the disruption.

As of the time the allegations emerged, there was no official response from the Lagos chapter of the All Progressives Congress or the police regarding the claims.
