Plateau Won’t Negotiate With Terrorists – Mutfwang

Plateau State Governor has ruled out negotiations with terrorists, saying his administration will focus on protecting lives, communities and democratic institutions.

He made the declaration during the state’s Democracy Day celebration in Jos, attended by government officials, civil society groups, youths and other stakeholders.

The governor said violence would not be rewarded with political recognition or influence.

Mutfwang stated that his government remains committed to tackling insecurity through lawful and democratic means.

He said authorities responded quickly to recent security challenges in southern Plateau by holding emergency security meetings, visiting displaced persons camps and strengthening cooperation with security agencies.

He added that new measures are being introduced to improve public safety across the state.

According to the governor, recruitment into the state’s security structure is ongoing following presidential approval.

Emergency contact lines have also been created to help residents report suspicious activities.

He said the government is investing in technology and additional security formations to improve surveillance and strengthen protection for communities.

Beyond security, Mutfwang pointed to gains in revenue generation and workers’ welfare.

He said monthly internally generated revenue has risen from less than ₦1 billion to between ₦3.5 billion and ₦4 billion.

The governor also disclosed that a ₦15 billion facility was secured to clear inherited salary arrears, while more than ₦3 billion has been paid in pensions and gratuities through a transparent process.
