Democracy Remains Nigeria’s Hope – APC Chair, Govt

The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Nentawe Yilwatda, alongside Babajide Sanwo-Olu and Siminalayi Fubara, said democracy remains Nigeria’s strongest tool for unity, stability and development.

Their messages came as the country marked Democracy Day and remembered the June 12, 1993 election and the sacrifices made by pro-democracy campaigners.

The leaders said democratic rule has continued to give Nigerians a voice in governance while creating opportunities for participation and accountability.

They urged citizens to uphold national unity, respect the rule of law and support efforts aimed at strengthening democratic institutions across the country.

Sanwo-Olu defended the economic reforms introduced by President Bola Tinubu, saying measures such as fuel subsidy removal and exchange rate reforms were helping to reshape the economy.

He also pointed to major infrastructure projects and social programmes as signs of progress, while calling on Nigerians to work together against insecurity and division.

Fubara described democracy as the best system for managing Nigeria’s diversity and driving inclusive growth.

He said the country’s differences should be seen as a strength and urged citizens to remain committed to accountability, transparency and good governance while supporting efforts to build a more prosperous nation.
