The order was announced on Wednesday through a statement from the governor’s office, signalling a tougher stance on party loyalty within the administration.
The governor said the directive became necessary to protect discipline, loyalty and the smooth running of government.
He maintained that political appointees are expected to support the policies and political direction of the administration they serve, warning that divided loyalty could affect governance.
Affected appointees were given 48 hours to submit their resignation letters through the Office of the Secretary to the State Government.
Relevant government offices were also instructed to identify and monitor those covered by the directive to ensure compliance.
The development is believed to be linked to reports that several appointees declined to follow the governor into the APC and remained in the PDP or joined other parties.
The government warned that anyone who fails to comply within the deadline risks losing their appointment, salaries and other benefits.
