The attack, which occurred at a dredging site, has forced many families to abandon their houses and businesses out of fear of another assault.

The gunmen were reportedly targeting a Chinese national but met resistance from security personnel and local hunters.

A fierce exchange of gunfire followed, resulting in multiple deaths, including a soldier, while some workers and residents were caught in the violence.

Community leaders said the incident revived painful memories of a similar abduction that occurred years ago.

They also blamed poor road conditions and delays in emergency response for worsening the situation, as many residents struggled to get help during the attack.

Although security agencies have intensified operations and assured residents that efforts are ongoing to track down the attackers, fear remains widespread.

Many homes and shops remain deserted as families continue to seek safety elsewhere.
