Oyo Kidnaped Principal Denies Ransom Claims

The abducted principal of Community High School, Esiele, Mrs Rachael Alamu, has appeared in a new video from captivity, disputing reports about the demands of the gunmen holding her and other victims.

She said false information circulating in the media was making efforts to secure their freedom more difficult.

Speaking after spending more than three weeks in captivity, the principal said the abductors were not demanding money, weapons, the release of a billionaire, or the implementation of Sharia law.

According to her, the group’s only request is the release of some of its detained members.

Mrs Alamu appealed to Nigerians to help spread her message, insisting that inaccurate claims about the kidnappers’ demands could worsen the situation.

She urged authorities to focus on resolving the crisis and avoid actions that could further delay the release of the captives.

The principal was among teachers and students abducted when armed men attacked schools in Ahoro-Esiele Community, Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State.

Despite security operations launched after the incident, the victims remain in captivity more than 24 days after the attack.
